Kerala records a steep decline in daily COVID cases!

Kerala reported 596 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, informed the health department in a press release. The test positivity rate was recorded at 3.2 per cent. The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-122, Thiruvananthapuram-75, Kozhikode-55,,Kottayam-51,Idukki-48,Thrissur-41,Kollam-39, Alappuzha-32,Kannur-32, Pathanamthitta-29, Palakkad- 25, Malappuram-23,Wayanad-19 and Kasaragod- 5.A total of 18,590 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. 18,746 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 18,073 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 673 people are in hospitals.

73 people were taken to hospitals on Sunday. Among the 5,812 active Covid cases reported, only 11.2 per cent of patients are admitted to hospitals/field hospitals.No deaths were reported within the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the health department reported 20 deaths that are newly certified as Covid-19 deaths based on the revised rules. Apart from this, 4 more deaths recorded late due to the delay in obtaining the documents were also added to the list of COVID deaths. With this, the death toll climbed to 67,339 in the state. 568 people contracted the virus through contact.

The infection source of 25 patients remains unidentified. 3 health workers also tested positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, 908 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries: Thiruvananthapuram- 116, Kollam- 30, Pathanamthitta-63, Alappuzha-14, Kottayam-206, Idukki- 84, Ernakulam-192, Thrissur- 53, Palakkad- 20, Malappuram- 23, Kozhikode-52, Wayanad- 35, Kannur- 14 and Kasaragod-6. 64,53,172 people were recovered from the disease so far.
