Kerala Government Initiates Revision of Private Hospital Staff Salaries After Five Years

After a hiatus of five years, the Kerala government’s labor department has taken a significant step by initiating the revision of salaries for private hospital staff in the state. A committee, led by the labor commissioner and comprising key stakeholders, has been established to determine the minimum wages for these healthcare workers. Despite the government issuing a notification outlining the minimum wages in 2018, its implementation in various hospitals has been pending.

The revised wages will be categorized based on employee roles such as office-general, nursing, and paramedical staff, with private hospitals differentiated according to their facilities. Additionally, the government plans to provide an additional allowance based on fixed percentages, ensuring fair compensation for the private hospital staff.
