National Strike; No public transportation in the early hours of the strike in Kerala

The 2-day long national strike announced by the trade unions in India against govt policies brought Kerala to a standstill in the early hours. The public transport is not functioning. Though KSRTC is organising some trips with police support, it is unsure if they will continue it. Offices and shops are remaining closed.

The protestors stopped workers from entering Kanjikode KINFRA park and Kochi BPCL refinery. However, they clarified that no one was forced to refrain from working. Even private vehicles are not plying in most of the areas in the state. The trade unions have demanded to keep private vehicles off the roads in protest of the fuel price hike. However, they will not be blocked if seen. The trade unions have planned protest sites in each panchayat. They will also ensure the presence of members 24*7 at the sites.
