Suresh Gopi Issues Apology to Female Journalist, Acknowledging Mistake

Former Member of Parliament, Suresh Gopi, has publicly apologized following allegations of disrespect towards a female journalist. In a Facebook post, he expressed his regret, mentioning that his actions were intended to convey affection and apologized sincerely if they caused any emotional distress.

The Kerala Journalists’ Union had previously declared its intent to lodge a complaint with the Women’s Commission and pursue legal recourse against Suresh Gopi. State President MV Vineetha and General Secretary R Kiran Babu urged Suresh Gopi to acknowledge his error and issue a formal apology.

The incident unfolded during a media interaction in Tali, Kozhikode, where Suresh Gopi placed his hand on the shoulder of a female journalist who had posed a question he did not appreciate. Video footage clearly shows this action being repeated even after the journalist pushed his hand away. The journalist involved has indicated her contemplation of legal action in response to the incident.
