Pankaj Tripathi Wins Best Supporting Actor at National Film Awards After Competitive Final Round

Pankaj Tripathi emerged victorious over Indrans in the decisive round of the National Film Awards, securing the title of Best Supporting Actor. According to G Suresh Kumar, a member of the jury, the intense competition in the final round was between Indrans for his role in “Home” and Pankaj Tripathi for his performance in “Mimi” (Hindi). Eventually, Pankaj Tripathi clinched the award while Indrans received a special mention. Malayalam actor Joju, who appeared in films like “Naayattu” and “Maduram,” also participated in the supporting actor category but didn’t secure the win.

In the race for Best Actor, Allu Arjun, recognized for his character in “Pushpa,” and Vicky Kaushal, renowned for the lead role in the Hindi movie “Sardaar Uddham Singh,” were contenders. The jury unanimously chose Allu Arjun as the winner. The competition between Alia Bhatt (“Gangubhai Kathiawadi”) and Kriti Sanon (“Mimi”) for Best Actress was intense.

The awards specifically considered films produced during the Covid-19 crisis for the 2021 accolades. Consequently, only eight Malayalam films were presented before the jury, as confirmed by G Suresh Kumar.

The final decisions were made by an 11-member jury led by Ketan Mehta.
