Back to school; 4 lakh students in class one

A new academic started today with 4 lakh students taking admission in class one. The students in Kerala will return to their schools on Wednesday after a pandemic of two years. The schools in the state were closed in 2020 March due to the Covid-19 spread. Even though they were reopened later, students were allowed to enter the school only in batches.

This is the first time since the pandemic they will be learning together. Around 4 lakh students have enrolled in class one this year. After the inauguration, school-level programmes will start. Teachers, PTAs and school management have made elaborate arrangements to welcome the students. Textbooks and handloom uniform clothes are handed over to the schools already. As many as 353 new permanent teachers have joined the department. Meanwhile, police have strengthened surveillance in the surroundings.
