Kerala Tourism to Showcase ‘Theyyam’ in Travel Expos for Global Attraction

The Kerala Tourism Department, in collaboration with the District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC), is set to promote the traditional ritual art form ‘Theyyam’ in travel expos to attract global tourists. The initiative aims to highlight the cultural richness of Kannur, where Theyyam is performed, and draw attention to the upcoming Theyyam season in the state.

The DTPC plans to introduce Theyyam through stalls at travel marts and exhibitions, providing foreigners with information about the significance of this traditional art form in northern Kerala. By featuring Theyyam in travel expos, the tourism department seeks to elevate its status similar to the exposure enjoyed by Kathakali in the state.
