Heavy Rain Expected: Yellow Alert in Five Kerala Districts

The central meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for five districts in Kerala, namely Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod, anticipating heavy rain. The alert comes as a result of a low-pressure system weakening into a cyclonic system over the South-East Arabian Sea, extending from Cyclone to South Karnataka. Moderate to light rain is expected in Kerala for the next five days.

While Idukki and Palakkad are currently under a yellow alert, Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam will face a similar situation the day after tomorrow, with chances of isolated heavy rain. The central meteorological department emphasizes that fishing activities should not be disrupted along the Kerala-Karnataka coasts, but caution is advised against fishing in the Lakshadweep area. The Lakshadweep region can expect strong winds and adverse weather conditions with speeds ranging from 40 to 45 kmph, occasionally reaching up to 55 kmph until tomorrow.
