Students migrates to abroad for higher studies has increased!
The Union Government informed Lok Sabha that till November 30, 2022, around 6.5 lakh students went abroad for higher education, compared to 4.44 lakh students in 2021.
Responding to a question raised by Congress MP Ranjeet Ranjan, Union MoS for education, Subhas Sarkar, said 6,46,206 Indians went abroad so far this year. The minister also added that there are no provisions to track those Indians travelling abroad for higher education.
Further, changes in visa policies in the USA and UK attracted more students to these countries. Between June and August 2022, the USA issued 82,000 passports for Indians. Meanwhile, Indians top the list of foreigners studying in the UK.
