spitting on priest; woman thrashed and dragged out of temple

A woman was thrashed and dragged out of a temple in Bengaluru after she allegedly spits on a priest. The woman claimed to be the wife of Lord Venkateshwara and wanted to sit next to the idol.

When the priest stopped her, she allegedly spat on him. This prompted a temple staff to beat her and drag her out of the premises.

Locals said that the woman was mentally unwell. The incident took place on December 21 but the woman went to the police on Thursday, after which the police registered an FIR against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
