Loka Kerala Sabha Inaugural Ceremony Cancelled After Kuwait Tragedy

The inaugural ceremony of the fourth edition of Loka Kerala Sabha (LKS) has been cancelled following a tragic fire incident in Kuwait, claiming the lives of over 40 Indians, including more than 13 Malayalis. This decision was made by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who also postponed all scheduled seminars and sessions originally planned for Thursday. These sessions will now take place on June 14 and 15 instead.

Additionally, all celebratory events associated with the Loka Kerala Sabha meeting have been called off as a mark of respect to the victims of the Kuwait tragedy. The event was supposed to be inaugurated at the R. Sankara Narayanan Thampi Members’ Lounge but will not proceed as planned.

Loka Kerala Sabha, an initiative by the Kerala government, aims to bring together the Malayali diaspora worldwide on a unified platform. However, the recent events have highlighted the necessity of emphasizing human compassion and solidarity during times of crisis.

Looking ahead, the next regional conference of Loka Kerala Sabha is scheduled to be held in Saudi Arabia, with events planned in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam on October 19, 20, and 21 respectively. Kerala’s Chief Minister and other officials are expected to participate in these programs.
