Skoda Set to Launch New Kodiaq and Octavia Models in India

Skoda, the Czech automaker, is preparing to unveil new models in the Indian market, including the latest iteration of its premium SUV, the Kodiaq, to bolster its presence. Plans also include introducing a sub-4 meter compact SUV early next year, complementing the existing lineup that features the mid-sized SUV Kushaq.

In an interview with PTI, Skoda Auto India Brand Director Petr Janeba revealed the company’s strategy to reintroduce the premium sedan Octavia later this year. Test mules of the new Kodiaq are expected in India by year-end, with a likely launch around the same time next year.

Janeba emphasized Skoda’s focus on models tailored for success in India, particularly noting the rising popularity of SUVs among consumers. Alongside SUV offerings, Skoda aims to cater to customers seeking a classic sedan experience with the return of the Octavia, targeting different market segments.

The introduction of the new Superb as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) is also planned, with local assembly slated for next year. Janeba underscored the importance of expanding Skoda’s product range in India, aligning with the brand’s global portfolio while meeting local market demands.

Skoda, part of the Volkswagen Group, is exploring opportunities to introduce battery-electric models in India, indicating a commitment to broadening its footprint with diverse offerings.
