A bank manager was found dead in mysterious circumstances in Kottiyam.

In mysterious circumstances, the SBI deputy manager was discovered hanging in her home. S S Sreeja, 32, wife of V S Gopu from Umayanalloor, was identified as the deceased. Sreeja worked as the branch’s deputy manager in Kollam Anandavalleswaram. She is the daughter of Poojapura R Sreekandan and Saraswathy and was married 5 years ago.

Sreeja was discovered dead inside her home around 8 p.m. on Sunday and was rushed to a nearby private hospital in Kottiyam. According to the police statement, Sreeja’s husband went out to buy milk around 7 p.m. When he returned, he found  his wife hanging near the work area. He immediately sought the assistance of neighbours and drove Sreeja to the hospital. Gopu’s elderly father was present at the time of the incident.

The RDO inquest proceedings were completed by Monday. After a test at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College hospital, Sreeja tested positive for Covid. Though she tested positive for Covid three months ago, she became negative after treatment. On Tuesday, an autopsy was performed. The last rites were performed on Tuesday evening in accordance with Covid protocol. Kottiyam police have opened an investigation.
