Case Filed Against Kerala Congress Leaders Including K Sudhakaran and Shashi Tharoor Over Thiruvananthapuram Violence

A case has been filed by the Kerala Police against prominent Congress leaders, including K Sudhakaran, the state Congress chief, and Shashi Tharoor, MP, over the recent incidents of violence in Thiruvananthapuram during a party march to the DGP office. The protests organized by the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) turned violent, leading to clashes with the police. The case, registered under various provisions of the IPC, accuses the leaders and party workers of rioting, obstructing roads, and preventing public servants from performing their duties. The violence during the protest has ignited a political controversy, with both the Congress and the ruling CPI(M) providing contrasting narratives of the events.

The KPCC had organized the march to protest against alleged police atrocities during their agitation over the ‘Nava Kerala Sadas’ outreach program initiated by the Left government. The clash between the protesters and the police resulted in the hospitalization of senior Congress leaders, including K Sudhakaran, raising questions about the use of force and the overall security situation during political demonstrations in the state.
