Sushmita Sen on competing for Miss India alongside Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: “I think she was fabulous.”

They had participated in beauty pageants before they entered the world of acting. In 1994, Miss India took part, and the winner of the pageant was Sushmita Sen. The actress opened her thoughts on the beauty pageant in a Karan johar interview in his talk show Koffee With Karan.

During the chat, Sushmita shared her thoughts on her victory, stating that she ‘absolutely’ deserved to win. Speaking of Aishwarya Rai, the contest’s runner-up, the actress lavished praise on the star. “I don’t compare myself to Aishwarya’s performance; I think she was fantastic on stage,” she explained. The actress stated that she does not believe she was better than anyone else and that she gave her all on that night, which is why she believes she deserved to win.

During the interview, Sushmita also discussed how luck worked in her favor that night. “My shooting star flew right over my head,” she explained. Everyone worked hard and gave their all that night, according to the actress. “When you compete for anything, it is not just your hard work because there are 20-30 girls who put in equal or more amounts of hard work,” she explained.
