Veena Vijayan Clears IGST Payment for Transaction with CMRL: IT Department Report

The income tax department has confirmed that Veena Vijayan, the proprietor of Exalogics Solutions, paid the Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) for a transaction involving Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL). According to the GST commissioner’s report, Veena Vijayan paid taxes amounting to Rs 1.72 crores, which she received from CMRL. This report has been officially submitted to Finance Minister K.N Balagopal and is expected to be forwarded to the Chief Minister, offering a defense against corruption allegations that the government and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) have been facing since news of this transaction surfaced.

Government sources have confirmed that Veena Vijayan’s company, registered in Bengaluru, underwent inspections in both Kerala and Karnataka by tax officers. The report clarifies that the IGST payment has been duly made, supported by appropriate documentation.

In response to these developments, Mathew Kuzhalnadan, a key figure in the controversy, stated that he would provide a detailed response after thoroughly examining the newly revealed information. He also mentioned that he had previously written to the finance minister requesting documentation regarding the IGST payment but did not receive a response. The situation is expected to unfold further as more details emerge.
