Diesel price Hike; KSRTC in a crucial situation

Diesel price Hikes by Oil companies landed KSRTC in a crucial situation. Oil companies have increased fuel prices for bulk purchases. With an increase of Rs 27 per litre, the price of diesel will be Rs 126 per litre. KSRTC needs 2.5 lakh litres of diesel every day. With the price hike, the corporation will need an additional Rs 89 lakh per day. It means the KSRTC will have a liability of Rs 26 crore per month. This will worsen the crisis of KSRTC, which is already running at a huge loss.

KSRTC had approached the apex court against the hike. However, SC did not entertain the plea. Though the corporation had pleaded against a hike of Rs 4, it was further increased manyfold. The company will approach Kerala high court on Thursday. Transport Minister Antony Raju said the hike will put KSRTC in a big crisis. The opposition has moved an adjournment motion on the crisis in KSRTC on Thursday.
