KSEB Struggles to Recover Over Rs 5000 Crores in Electricity Dues

The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is facing challenges in recovering electricity dues, falling significantly short of its target. While the board aimed to collect up to Rs 5,000 crores, it has only managed to accumulate Rs 36 crores. Some government institutions have assured to clear their dues by March, but as the year concludes, the total electricity dues are anticipated to exceed Rs 5,000 crores. Legal disputes between KSEB and various departments, including HD and EHD, have hindered the debt recovery process. The one-time settlement scheme, active from July 20 to December 30, aimed to collect dues of over two years in that period, offering interest rate concessions based on the duration of outstanding dues.
