Kerala Government Raises Wages for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers

In a significant move, the Kerala government has announced a wage hike for over 60,000 Anganwadi workers and helpers in the state, benefiting a total of 60,232 individuals in the sector. Finance Minister K N Balagopal revealed that those with over 10 years of service will receive an increment of Rs 1,000, while others will see their wages raised by Rs 500. Currently, Anganwadi workers and helpers in Kerala receive a monthly salary of Rs 12,000 and Rs 8,000, respectively. The revised wages will be applicable retrospectively from December 2023. This decision, aimed at recognizing the invaluable contributions of Anganwadi workers and helpers, is expected to positively impact their livelihoods and well-being.
