Blasphemous content; Wikipedia service has been banned

Pakistan has blocked Wikipedia services after the platform failed to remove “sacrilegious content,” a report said. The action comes days after the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority or PTA warned of action in case of non-compliance.

The PTA said Wikipedia was approached for blocking/removal of blasphemous content. It’s not currently clear what Wikipedia is being asked to remove. The regulator said that the restoration of the services of Wikipedia would be reconsidered subject to the removal of the reported unlawful content.
