Disciplinary Action Taken Against Muvattupuzha Policemen for Inappropriate Conduct and Drinking

A police officer was apprehended on Wednesday for reportedly behaving inappropriately towards female tourists at Areeckal Waterfalls in Piramadom on Tuesday evening. Subsequently, he was presented in court and remanded to 14-day judicial custody.

The arrested individual, identified as A.S. Pareeth (48) from Kothamangalam and serving as a civil police officer at Muvattupuzha Police Station, was involved in the incident. In response, both Pareeth and his colleague Baiju, a civil police officer from Ashmanoor, were suspended pending further investigation.

The occurrence took place on Tuesday evening when the officers entered the tourist spot without purchasing tickets. Allegedly, Pareeth acted improperly towards a group of women visitors from Ernakulam as they enjoyed their time near the waterfall. Following complaints from the tourists, Pareeth and Baiju were confined to the area. The complainant also stated that the officer behaved inappropriately towards children.

The Ramamangalam Police Station was subsequently informed and took the accused officer into custody. Meanwhile, it was reported that Baiju, who had been released later on, faced suspension due to being intoxicated in a public place.
