Cricketer S Sreesanth Booked in Cheating Case in Kannur

The police in Kannur have registered a case against cricketer S Sreesanth and two others based on a cheating complaint filed by a man in northern Kerala. The complainant, a resident of Choonda, alleged that the accused individuals, Rajiv Kumar and Venkatesh Kini, took Rs 18.70 lakh on various dates from April 25, 2019. They claimed that the funds were for building a sports academy in Kollur, Karnataka, where Sreesanth is purportedly a partner.

The complainant, Sareesh Gopalan, stated that he invested the money after being offered the opportunity to become a partner in the academy. Sreesanth, along with the other two individuals, has been booked under IPC Section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property). In this case, Sreesanth is named as the third accused.

The investigation will proceed based on the allegations of cheating and fraudulent inducement of funds related to the purported sports academy project.
