Bezos Overtakes Musk as World’s Richest Person Amid Tesla Stock Decline

For the first time in the last nine months, Elon Musk has been surpassed by Jeff Bezos as the world’s richest person, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Amazon founder Bezos reclaimed the top spot with a net worth of $200 billion, surpassing Musk’s $198 billion. Musk’s wealth has taken a hit recently, dropping by over $30 billion as Tesla’s stock experienced a 25% decline. The decline in Tesla’s share price, coupled with the court-approved annulment of Musk’s $55.8 billion compensation agreement in January, contributed to his drop in the rankings.

Amazon’s Jeff Bezos has reclaimed the title of the world’s richest person, surpassing Elon Musk, who held the position for the last nine months. Bezos’ net worth reached $200 billion, outstripping Musk’s $198 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Musk’s fortunes have dwindled with Tesla’s stock seeing a 25% decline, resulting in a reduction of over $30 billion in his net worth. The recent court approval of the annulment of Musk’s massive $55.8 billion Tesla compensation agreement from 2018 has also played a role in this shift. Bezos, despite no longer actively leading Amazon, has benefited from the company’s rising stock prices, securing his position at the top of the world’s richest individuals.
