Kerala CM Urges Centre to Rescue Malayalis Trapped in Ukraine-Russia Conflict

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has called upon the central government to intervene and facilitate the repatriation of three Malayalis trapped in the war-torn Ukraine-Russia conflict zone. These individuals, lured by promises of lucrative jobs in the Russian army, were allegedly coerced into fighting in the ongoing conflict. Vijayan, in a letter to Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, highlighted the plight of the stranded individuals and urged immediate action to bring them back home.

The victims, identified as Tinu, Prince, and Vineeth from Anchuthengu in Thiruvananthapuram, were misled by fraudulent recruitment agencies, which exploited their aspirations for better employment opportunities. Despite efforts to seek assistance from the Indian Embassy in Moscow and the Union Ministry, there has been no response so far. The incident sheds light on the pervasive issue of human trafficking and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals by fake recruitment agencies. The central government has acknowledged the situation and initiated actions to address the larger network involved in this criminal activity.
