MEC 7: Revolutionizing Fitness with a Community Approach

MEC 7, short for ‘Multi Exercise Combination 7’, is a unique fitness regimen designed by Peringadakkad Swalahuddin, a former serviceman from Thurakkal near Kondotty, Kerala. This exercise routine integrates elements from seven different categories: aerobics, simple exercises, yoga, meditation, acupressure, breathing exercises, and face massage. It involves performing 21 varieties of exercises from these categories within a span of 21 minutes, resulting in approximately 1750 body movements.

The concept of MEC 7 aims not only to improve physical health but also to foster a sense of community and well-being among its practitioners. It is designed to be accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels, making it inclusive and easy to follow.

Swalahuddin developed MEC 7 based on his experiences and knowledge gained during his tenure in the army. After retiring from the army, he envisioned spreading health and happiness through structured fitness activities. The first MEC 7 session was conducted in July 2012 at a school ground in Thurakkal, Kondotty. Over the years, the initiative has grown significantly, with Swalahuddin opening numerous MEC 7 centres across Kerala and even internationally.

MEC 7 centres have become more than just places for exercise; they have evolved into vibrant communities that promote interpersonal relationships and healthy lifestyles. These centres operate on a ‘free-of-cost’ basis, welcoming fitness enthusiasts without any charge. The popularity of MEC 7 has expanded beyond Kerala, with centres established in cities like Jeddah, Dubai, Sharjah, and Brunei, reflecting its growing influence and appeal worldwide.
