Biden Firmly Committed to Election Race Amid Growing Calls to Step Down

US President Joe Biden, despite facing significant criticism following a weak debate performance against GOP rival Donald Trump, is not considering withdrawing from the presidential race, the White House confirmed on Wednesday. Biden, 81, has been urged by some Democratic Party leaders and major media editorial boards to step aside for another candidate, but he remains resolute.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed these concerns during her daily briefing, stating, “Absolutely not,” when asked if Biden was considering stepping down. She emphasized Biden’s commitment to continuing his administration’s work and highlighted his accomplishments over nearly four years in office.

Jean-Pierre acknowledged that Biden understood the concerns raised but insisted that his record of delivering for the American people should not be overlooked. She reiterated that Biden’s agenda remains popular and that he is focused on building on his achievements.

When pressed further about the possibility of Biden changing his mind, Jean-Pierre maintained that he is determined to proceed with his campaign. She defended his recent performance, attributing it to a combination of jet lag and a cold, and praised his dedication to his role as president.

Jean-Pierre dismissed any suggestions that Biden might suspend his campaign or that Vice President Kamala Harris would assume his duties, stating unequivocally that Biden is moving forward with his responsibilities and campaign. She concluded by reaffirming the president’s focus on continuing his work for the American people.
