Triumphant Indian Cricket Team Receives Hero’s Welcome at Delhi Airport After T20 World Cup Win

After their victorious campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup, the Indian Men’s cricket team arrived at New Delhi International Airport on Thursday morning. A large crowd of enthusiastic fans awaited their arrival to celebrate the team’s success.

The team traveled on a special Air India charter flight, AIC24WC — Air India Champions 24 World Cup, which departed from Bridgetown, Barbados at 4:50am local time on Wednesday. After a non-stop 16-hour journey, the flight touched down in Delhi at 6am IST on Thursday.

Onboard the flight were the Indian squad, support staff, players’ families, board officials, and members of the traveling media.

Rohit Sharma, the World Cup-winning captain, extended an invitation to Indian fans for a victory parade at Marine Drive and the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday to celebrate the team’s ICC T20 World Cup triumph. The Indian team secured their second ICC Men’s T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa by seven runs in the final.

To mark the victory, the team will participate in an open-top bus parade in Mumbai, starting from Marine Drive and concluding at the iconic Wankhede Stadium from 5:00 pm onwards.

Earlier, the team had been stranded in Barbados due to the airport closure amid Hurricane Beryl’s impact. Air India arranged a special flight to bring the T20 World Cup champions back home safely.
