UAE Declares Paid Holiday for Private Sector on July 7 for Hijri New Year

The UAE has announced that private sector employees will have a paid holiday on July 7, in observance of the Hijri New Year. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) stated that Sunday will be a holiday to mark Muharram 1, the start of the Islamic New Year, 1446 AH.

Similarly, Oman has also declared a holiday for both public and private sector workers on this occasion. The UAE residents have two more public holidays remaining this year: Prophet Muhammad’s birthday and National Day on December 2nd and 3rd. These are part of the holiday list announced by the UAE Cabinet for 2024, in addition to the annual 30 leaves employees are entitled to.

Previously, the UAE had a public and private sector holiday from June 15 to 18 for Bakrid, which was observed on June 16 in Saudi Arabia and most Gulf countries, except Oman and Kerala, where it was celebrated on June 17.
