Tragic Aftermath of Kalamassery Blasts: Death Toll Rises to 4 as Another Victim Succumbs

In a tragic turn of events, another victim of the Kalamassery blasts, Aluva native Molly Joy (61), has succumbed to severe burn injuries. Molly Joy had been undergoing treatment at Ernakulam Medical Centre following the explosions that occurred at the Jehovah’s Witnesses convention held at the Zamra International Convention Centre in Kalamassery. She suffered burn injuries of over 70 percent and passed away around 5 a.m. on Monday. With Molly Joy’s demise, the death toll due to the Kalamassery explosion has risen to four, all of whom are women.

The incident, which shocked the region, took place a week ago and left more than 50 people injured. Currently, one person remains in critical condition, and 20 others are hospitalized as a result of the blasts. Police have identified Martin Dominic (57) as the individual responsible for the explosions. He allegedly carried out multiple blasts using an improvised explosive device (IED). The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court is expected to consider the police’s request for his custody, indicating the need for further investigation to determine whether there are others involved in planning the blasts. The incident has left the community in shock and raised concerns about the safety and security of public events in the region.
