A dental college student exhibiting symptoms resembling Nipah virus infection was admitted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital on Tuesday. The patient, experiencing a fever, is presently undergoing observation in a specially designated section of the hospital after seeking treatment on Tuesday morning.

Samples obtained from the patient have been dispatched to the Pune Virology Institute for testing. Notably, the student has expressed uncertainty regarding potential exposure to fruit consumption that may have involved contact with bats. Currently, the medical team is eagerly awaiting the results of the laboratory reports.
