Shahida Kamal’s PhD complaint has landed the Women’s Commission in hot water once more.

After controversy erupted over Kerala Women’s Commission member Shahida Kamal’s educational qualifications, a Facebook post in which she claimed to have received her PhD became a talking point on social media.

Shahida stated in a July 30, 2018 post that she received her Ph.D. on the topic of ‘Social commitment and women empowerment.’

She also stated at the time that her dream of adding the prefix ‘Dr’ to her name had come true. There was also a photo of the Ph.D. on the site. However, no mention was made of the university from which the Ph.D. was obtained or whether it is accredited.

Following a squabble over her educational credentials the other day, Shahida explained in a Facebook post that she had earned a D.Litt from an international open university. She also stated that all D.Litt recipients have added ‘Dr’ to their names in their profiles. When asked if the dissertation had been submitted, she replied, “Will tell everything to the investigation officers.”

Dr. Shahida Kamal is written beneath Shahida’s photo on the Women’s Commission website.

According to reports, Shahida does not have a university degree or a doctorate. During a TV channel debate, Akhila Khan, a native of Thiruvananthapuram’s Vattapara, claimed that Shahida Kamal had only studied up to BCom and had failed the final-year exam. She also claimed that Shahida Kamal’s educational credentials were falsified.
