Kochi Murder Case Takes a Turn as Naushad Alters Statement, Reveals Different Motive

Fresh details have emerged concerning the homicide that occurred within a hotel room in Kaloor, Kochi. Naushad has once again revised his account of the motive behind the murder. He now claims that he had urged Reshma to end their relationship, but she adamantly refused and even challenged him to kill her. Responding to her provocation, Naushad used a knife he had at home to stab Reshma. Incriminating evidence of their conversation was discovered on Naushad’s phone, which also contained allegations of Reshma attempting to cast a spell on him.

In a prior disclosure, Naushad had attributed the murder to his friends mocking his health issues, which he shared with them. He had earlier stated that he had invited Reshma to his location with the intent to kill her. The fatal injury resulted from a severed nerve in Reshma’s neck.

The victim, Reshma, hailing from Changanassery, was fatally stabbed within her Elamakara room around 10:45 PM the previous night. She had been in a romantic relationship with the accused for three years, having initially connected through Instagram. Police investigations suggest that a heated argument escalated into physical violence in the room. The Ernakulam North Police apprehended the accused, Naushad, who was employed at Oyo Rooms in Kochi. Notably, news of the murder was conveyed to the hotel owner’s son-in-law. Authorities have also indicated that Naushad has a history of substance abuse.
