India Successfully Tests Akash-NG Missile, Enhancing Air Defense Capabilities

India achieved a significant milestone in its military capabilities as it successfully flight-tested the new generation Akash-NG missile off the coast of Odisha. Launched from the integrated test range in Chandipur, the test involved intercepting a high-speed unmanned aerial target at very low altitude. The Akash-NG missile, with a range of around 80 km, demonstrated its efficiency by successfully destroying the target. The test validated the complete weapon system, including the indigenously developed radio frequency seeker, launcher, multi-function radar, and command, control, and communication system. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh commended the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Air Force for this achievement, highlighting its potential to enhance the country’s air defense capabilities.
