PM Modi Thanks Nation as NDA Set to Form Government for Third Consecutive Term

As the counting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections continues, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is poised for a decisive victory over the opposition alliance, INDIA. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to the party workers and the nation, marking this as an unprecedented moment in India’s history. In a post on X, PM Modi stated, “The people of the country have expressed their trust in the NDA for the third consecutive time. This is an unprecedented moment in the history of India. I thank my family for their love and blessings. I assure the countrymen that to fulfil their aspirations, we will move forward with new energy, new enthusiasm, and new resolves.”

PM Modi’s personal victory in the Varanasi seat further cemented the party’s stronghold. He defeated Congress candidate Ajay Rai by a margin of 1,52,513 votes, securing 6,12,970 votes against Rai’s 4,60,457. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Ather Jamal Lari came in third with 33,766 votes. PM Modi also acknowledged the tireless efforts of the party workers, saying, “I express my heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to all the workers for the dedication and tireless hard work they have done.”

According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the BJP has won 110 seats, while the Congress has won 46. The NDA is leading in 293 seats, and the INDIA bloc is ahead in 232, indicating significant gains for the latter. The BJP, which had won a majority on its own in the 2014 and 2019 elections with 282 and 303 seats respectively, aimed for 370 seats this time. Under PM Modi’s leadership, the NDA contested the elections for a third consecutive term, with polls held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1.
