Apple Intelligence to Lead New AI-Powered Features in iOS 18: Mark Gurman

Apple is poised to unveil numerous AI-powered features and tools, collectively termed ‘Apple Intelligence,’ at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 on June 10, according to Mark Gurman. Alongside these features, a new Passwords app and a refreshed Music widget for the iPhone Control Centre are anticipated with iOS 18. No new hardware announcements are expected at the event.

Apple Intelligence Features

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that ‘Apple Intelligence’ will encompass the AI-backed features set to debut at WWDC 2024. These features will be integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS 15, all expected to be released during the conference. The AI enhancements are designed to assist with everyday tasks, integrating into system applications with both on-device and cloud-based processing capabilities.

Key functionalities may include AI-generated summaries of web pages and responses to messages and emails, tools to organize email inboxes, and condensed message outlines for notifications. Improved editing tools for the Photos app, similar to Google’s Smart Eraser, and Generative AI features for creating text-based emojis are also expected.

Additionally, Gurman suggests Apple might announce a partnership with OpenAI, potentially integrating ChatGPT into iOS 18, iPadOS, and macOS.
