Nikesh Kumar May Join CPM Kannur District Committee as Special Invitee

Renowned media personality MV Nikesh Kumar, who recently announced his transition from journalism to active politics, is expected to be included in the CPM Kannur district committee as a special invitee. The decision is anticipated to be finalized in the upcoming state committee meeting. A party member, Nikesh Kumar has expressed his interest in working within the Kannur district to the state leadership.

Nikesh Kumar, who contested in the 2016 assembly election from the Azhikode constituency but lost to IUML’s KM Shaji, has since shifted to his residence in Barnasserry. MV Jayarajan, the CPM district secretary, stated that Nikesh has been involved in party activities in Kannur since his candidacy. His future roles will be determined as he becomes more active in local politics. The CPM is reportedly considering fielding Nikesh from Mattannur or Taliparamba in the 2026 assembly elections, believing that his previous defeat was due to the late announcement of his candidacy.
