Kerala Engineering Entrance Exam to be Conducted Twice a Year

Starting next year, the Kerala engineering entrance exam (KEAM) will be conducted twice annually, following the pattern of the JEE exams for admissions into IITs and NITs. Students can choose to sit for either one or both exams, with the option to use their highest score or an average of the two for the rank list. This change aims to reduce students’ mental stress by providing additional opportunities to improve scores or compensate for missed exams.

The entrance exams will be held online in April and May, with applications opening in January. The government plans to complete counselling by June to start classes by mid-June. The earlier completion of the admission process is expected to increase student enrollment in Kerala. Additional exam centers will be established, utilizing C-DIT’s software for the online exams. Candidates must score at least 10 marks to be included in the engineering rank list, with exceptions for Scheduled Tribes.
