Tragedy Strikes in China: 13 Dead in School Dormitory Fire

In a tragic incident, thirteen individuals have lost their lives in a school dormitory fire in Henan province, central China, as reported by the official Xinhua news agency on Saturday. The blaze, which occurred at the Yingcai School in Yanshanpu village, was reported to the local fire department late Friday night.

Emergency responders swiftly arrived at the scene, managing to extinguish the flames by 11:38 p.m., as per Xinhua. Thirteen fatalities have been confirmed, with one person sustaining injuries and currently receiving treatment in stable condition. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and at least one individual associated with the school has been detained.

Yanshanpu village, situated on the outskirts of Nanyang city, is now grappling with the aftermath of the tragedy. Limited information is available about the boarding school, but early social media videos depicted students of various ages, including kindergarteners, wearing school-branded smocks.

The incident has sparked outrage on Chinese social media platforms, with calls for severe punishment for any identified safety lapses.
