India Secures Highest Medal Tally of Eight in Asian Games 2023

India achieved its most significant medal haul at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023, securing a total of eight medals on Wednesday, including two gold medals, with the majority coming from the shooting events.

In a remarkable performance, Sift Samra Kaur not only set an Asian record but also surpassed the world record in the individual rifle three-position event. Additionally, the women’s 25m rapid pistol team, consisting of Manu Bhakar, Isha Singh, and Ritham Sangwan, clinched a gold medal. Furthermore, the team comprising Sift, Ashi Chowkse, and Manini Kaushik earned a silver medal in the rifle three-position category. Isha Singh secured a silver medal in the rapid pistol individual event, while Ashi claimed the bronze in the rifle three-position event.

In other sports, the men’s skeet shooting team secured a bronze medal, and Anand Jeet Singh earned a silver medal in the individual event. Vishnu Saravanan contributed a bronze medal in sailing, while Roshibina Devi advanced to the finals in wushu, with the final competition scheduled for today. Tennis players Saket Meineni and Ramkumar reached the quarter-finals in men’s doubles, guaranteeing a medal. World champion Nikhat Sarin, a strong contender in women’s boxing, progressed to the quarter-finals, signaling high hopes for her performance.
