22-Year old woman in Kerala has set on fire by her friend this morning

Thrissur : A 22-year-old engineering student died on Thursday after she was set on fire by a 32-year-old man, said to be her friend, the police said.

The police explained the act as a premeditated attack. The attacker was caught by people who saw the incident. But they could not save the woman.

Neighbours and passersby had rushed to the victim’s home, hearing her cries for help. They caught hold of the accused and handed him over to the police.

The victim was living with her grandparents.

The attacker is dentified as Nitish. He arrived at the victim’s home around 7 am. Following an argument, he poured petrol over her and and set her on fire, a police officer said.
