The SSLC certificate can now be used to validate caste

Thiruvananthapuram: If caste is indicated on the SSLC Certificate/Education Certificate, it can be used as an official document in place of the Village Officer/Caste Thahasildar’s certificate. If the parents are from different castes, the caste indicated on either of their education certificates can be used to certify the child’s caste.

If the caste is properly recorded in the certificate/education record, and there is a marriage certificate of wife/husband issued by the Sub-Registrar or local body, it will be accepted as a substitute for the inter-caste marriage certificate. However, it is critical that they submit an affidavit with it. This change eliminates the need for a certificate issued by the Village Officer.

Meanwhile, job seekers who want to work abroad will be able to upload their certificates online for Home Department certification. A login facility will be provided to universities, examination halls, higher secondary sections, and local government departments for this purpose. Officers who are concerned can check the authenticity of the certificates online.
