The India Meteorological Department (IMD) alerts governments as it forecasts low pressure over Indian Ocean and southeast Bay of Bengal
A well low pressure area lies over East Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal
It is very likely to intensify into a depression during next 24 hours over East Equatorial Indian Ocean & adjoining central parts of south Bay of Bengal and into a Cyclonic Storm.
It will turn into a subsequent 24 hours over southwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining Equatorial Indian
Ocean.
It is very likely to move northwestwards along & off east coast of Srilanka near north Tamilnadu coast on 30th April 2019.
For Kerala coast & Lakshadweep area Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services has forecasted that sea will be rough near shore during 17:30 hours (IST) of 25-04-2019 to 23:30 hours (IST) of 26-04-2019 due to the effect of high period (16-18 sec) swell waves, having 1.7-2.4 m height.
Strong wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph likely to commence over Kerala from 28th morning and becoming squally wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph from 29th morning.
The department has informed the governments to be alert.
