Kerala High Court Queries Removal of School Compound Walls for Nava Kerala Sadas Events

The Kerala High Court has raised concerns about the decision to dismantle compound walls surrounding public schools as part of preparations for the Nava Kerala Sadas events. The court questioned the rationale behind removing these walls while hearing a petition opposing the utilization of Chakkuvally Parabrahma Temple grounds in Kollam for the Sadas. Additionally, the court sought information about the individuals or entities organizing the Sadas venues. It instructed the District Collector and the Nava Kerala Sadas nodal officer to file affidavits on the matter and directed the Chief Secretary to be made a party in the case.

The controversy arose as part of the Kerala Government’s public outreach program, where organizers partially or completely removed compound walls of public schools to facilitate the passage of a bus carrying Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and cabinet ministers during the Nava Kerala Sadas events. The court’s intervention indicates a legal examination of the decision to dismantle these walls and the overall planning and organization of the public events.
