Accused in Kalamassery Bomb Blasts Case Opts to Represent Himself in Court

Dominic Martin, the prime accused in the Kalamassery Bomb Blasts case, has chosen to represent himself in court. Martin informed the court that he does not require legal assistance and intends to present his own arguments.

During the court hearing, Martin declined the support of lawyers from the Legal Service Society who had appeared on his behalf. He expressed his need to articulate his thoughts and arguments personally, emphasizing his desire to address the court in his own words. Remarkably, he stated that he harbors no grievances against the police handling his case.

Martin faces serious charges under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder and Section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act. Additionally, relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) have been invoked against him.

In a recent development, Martin was escorted to his residence in Athani by the police for evidence collection. During the operation, law enforcement officials retrieved various materials, including wires, batteries, and other items allegedly used by Martin in the manufacturing of improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Notably, a bottle used to purchase petrol was also found on the terrace of his house, further implicating him in the ongoing investigation.
