IMD Issues Warning: Kerala Braces for Intensified Rainfall and Thunderstorms; Yellow Alert in Six Districts
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning on Thursday, indicating the likelihood of intensified rainfall in several districts of Kerala. According to the forecast, moderate rain accompanied by thunder and strong winds reaching speeds of up to 40 kmph is expected in the following districts: Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

The public has been urged to take precautions during thunderstorms and heavy rains. It is advisable to keep windows closed, remain indoors, and minimize contact with walls and floors during thunderstorms. Unplugging household appliances and avoiding proximity to electrical devices are also recommended safety measures. Additionally, lightning protection conductors can be installed on buildings to safeguard them from lightning strikes, and surge protectors can be fitted to protect electrical equipment.
In light of the adverse weather conditions, fishermen and coastal communities have been cautioned against venturing into the sea during this period.
