Congress Launches Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Focusing on Bread-and-Butter Issues

The Congress party, led by Rahul Gandhi, is set to kick off the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur, emphasizing key issues like unemployment, price rise, and social justice. This yatra is seen as a strategic move by the Congress to shape the narrative ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, aiming to refocus public attention on crucial socio-economic matters. While the BJP concentrates on the Ram temple consecration ceremony, the Congress intends to use the yatra to highlight bread-and-butter concerns and revive its political standing after recent electoral setbacks. The yatra will cover 100 Lok Sabha segments in 15 states, covering 6,713 km over 67 days, with its culmination in Mumbai. Although the Congress asserts that it is not an electoral yatra, its timing suggests an attempt to regain public support through a comprehensive outreach addressing pressing issues.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is strategically planned to traverse through 15 states, covering 110 districts, 100 Lok Sabha seats, and 337 assembly segments. The Congress aims to address issues that it claims the government has neglected, presenting it as a campaign to re-establish constitutional principles like justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Despite Congress’s emphasis that it’s not an electoral yatra, the timing aligns with its efforts to reinvigorate the party’s appeal among voters. The yatra will commence from Manipur, which has been marred by ethnic violence since May last year, adding a symbolic touch to the campaign’s launch. The Congress seeks to steer the public discourse away from emotional issues, focusing on the real concerns of the people, and the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is envisioned as a transformative journey comparable to Rahul Gandhi’s earlier cross-country march.
