Cinematic Extravaganza Unveiled: 28th IFFK Promises a Week of Cinematic Delights in the Capital

The 28th edition of the Kerala International Film Festival (IFFK) is set to kick off on Friday, promising a seven-day cinematic spectacle. The inauguration, to be conducted online at the Nishagandhi Auditorium at 6 pm, will be graced by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, with Bollywood actor Nana Patekar as the chief guest, as announced by Film Academy Chairman Ranjith in a press conference. The esteemed event will witness Mayor Arya Rajendran presenting the Spirit of Cinema Award to Kenyan director Wanuri Kahiu, adding a touch of international recognition to the festival.

Festival Curator Golda Sellam will unveil this year’s carefully curated film packages, offering a diverse range of cinematic experiences. A total of 175 films will grace the screens during the festival, showcasing the richness and diversity of global cinema. The closing ceremony will feature the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to the renowned Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi. Notable personalities, including V.K. Prashant MLA, District Panchayat President D. Suresh Kumar, and international jury chairperson Rita Azevedo Gomez, will be part of the event, ensuring a star-studded celebration of cinema. As the festival unfolds, ‘Goodbye Julia’ directed by Mohamed Kordofani will captivate audiences after the opening ceremony, setting the stage for a cinematic journey that transcends borders and cultures.
