Government Allocates Rs 30 Crore to KSRTC for Salary Disbursement

The Kerala government has allocated Rs 30 crore as monthly assistance to the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to address the financial challenges faced by the corporation. Minister KN Balagopal made the announcement, emphasizing that the funds would be credited within two days. The move is aimed at facilitating the timely disbursement of salaries to KSRTC employees, with Rs 39 crore required to cover the first installment of salaries for December. The government has been actively supporting KSRTC in managing its financial obligations, having provided Rs 121 crore in assistance last month. This recent allocation is part of ongoing efforts to stabilize the financial situation of the state transport corporation.

The delay in salary disbursements in the previous months has been attributed to overdrafts and loan repayments, impacting the financial health of KSRTC. Despite generating a revenue of Rs 240.48 crore in December, the financial challenges persisted. The government’s continued financial support is crucial for ensuring the smooth functioning of KSRTC and meeting the salary obligations to its employees. The assistance provided by the government is a testament to its commitment to addressing the financial concerns of key public sector entities like KSRTC, ensuring the welfare of its workforce.
