MEA reports that the Afghan Special Cell received 2000 calls and 6000 queries in 5 days

New Delhi:  According to sources, the Afghan Special Cell established by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) received over 2000 calls in five days, answered around 6000 WhatsApp queries, and responded to over 1200 emails.

The MEA has established a special Afghanistan cell to coordinate repatriation and other requests from the war-torn country, where security has deteriorated since Kabul was taken over by the Taliban.

On Sunday, India evacuated 168 passengers, including 107 Indian nationals, aboard an Indian Air Force C-17 that landed at the Hindon IAF base in Ghaziabad.

According to the MEA, approximately 400 Indians are stranded in Afghanistan. According to government sources, India has been granted permission to operate two flights per day from Kabul to evacuate its nationals who have become stranded in Afghanistan.

The permission was granted by American and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) forces, which have been in charge of the Hamid Karzai International Airport since the Taliban took over the Afghan capital on August 15.

The Taliban took over the presidential palace in Afghanistan on Sunday, 15 August, in a lightning sweep across the war-torn country, deposing the US-backed Ashraf Ghani government.

People in Afghanistan have been fleeing the country since the Taliban took control last week. Several countries have been evacuating their citizens from the war-torn country on an emergency basis.

The Kabul airport has been experiencing chaos as a result of a growing exodus of locals fleeing the country in fear of the return of the barbaric Taliban regime.

According to the MEA, the Narendra Modi government is committed to ensuring the safe return of all Indian nationals from Afghanistan. According to the MEA, the main challenge for travel to and from Afghanistan is the Kabul airport’s operational status.
