PM Modi Mocks Congress in Rajya Sabha, Targets Rahul Gandhi and Kharge’s ‘400 Seats’ Remark

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at the Congress party and its leaders during his speech in the Rajya Sabha. Responding to Mamata Banerjee’s prediction that Congress won’t win more than 40 seats in the next election, PM Modi sarcastically remarked that he can pray for Congress to secure at least 40 seats. He also mocked Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent statement of aiming for 400 seats, stating that Kharge made use of the opportunity to speak at length when two special commanders were absent.

PM Modi criticized the Congress for its historical governance, accusing the party of exploiting fault lines, fostering separatism, and impeding national progress. He took a sharp jibe at Rahul Gandhi, referring to him as the ‘Yuvraj’ (prince) of the Congress, but labeled him a non-starter who neither lifts nor launches. Despite the political banter, Modi acknowledged the collaborative efforts between the Centre and states during the Covid era, emphasizing the policy of cooperation with the states.
